Faith Series XIII

But above all [things], my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath; but let your yes be [a simple] yes, and your no be [a simple] no, so that you may not sin and fall under condemnation.

James 5 : 12 Amplified Bible.

“The reason most of us find it difficult to believe God to do what  He says is because we don’t keep our words ourselves.”

Rev George Adegboye

************

Most times as believers we find it difficult to believe God for what he says. It is perfectly human to do so but mind you, faith walk requires that you walk with God by faith and not by our senses. Jesus himself said “blessed are they who believe without seeing”.

It is high time we began to practise what we say. Naturally if you are used to keeping your word, trusting God to do what he promised through the written or “Rhema” will not be difficult for one.

Let’s take an analogy from the physical world. A man that lies as often as possible either white, black, green or yellow to his son will find it difficult to believe other people you can see let alone God.

Do you strive to say the truth always? Are you a man/woman of your word? Is your word your bond? If your answer is yes then you are in for a trusting relationship with the Lord.

The Lord expects you and I to live what we say. There should not be dichotomy in our lives. Our word should reflect the kind of spirit we carry as believers. Holy Spirit is the spirit of truth. Most times when we find ourselves lying its because we have not obeyed the Spirit. As many as are led by the Spirit of God they are the SONS OF GOD. As Sons We have been saddled with the responsibility of representing God here on earth the way Jesus did. God is our Father and we were created to give him pleasure.
Every time we tell or live a lie we make him sad but whenever we tell the truth and live by faith we bring Him great pleasure.

May the good Lord help you and I to be able to live a life without disparity in our word and actions.
