Have you ever sat and thought deeply what makes God the ever faithful God? I mean why is God still so faithful despite the wickedness that lurks in the hearts of men? Apart from the obvious answer that “He is perfection and can never be a man”, I will like to see God as the General Overseer of this world leading by the examples he wants us to follow. God is the definition of Faithfulness.
He is steady in the allegiance he keeps with us. He is the one that never say No when He means to say Yes; God’s word is true and just. He’s the One that says He will do a thing and it will come to pass. God stays faithful despite our lack of faith in Him and even when we cheat on Him.
God is loyal, trustworthy, the most reliable friend you can ever have and the most honourable promise keeper. God honours his word more than his name. He is not one that would lie; even what he promised before the beginning, God will fulfil (Titus 1 vs 2).
In Genesis 28 vs 15, God says: “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you Go and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I promised you”. God’s word is so Honourable that even when the heaven and the earth He created pass away, His word will remain firm (Mathew 24:35). He is faithful in every of His relationship with mankind and he wants us to be faithful too. He want to be the centre of our world. He want us to love him with everything we have and remain steadfast in Him. A faithful servant’s reward is plenty. When He entrust us with few things and we are faithful to it, He blesses us with more but there is one thing that makes a man faithful; Obedience. Faithfulness to God and Faith in God is what guarantees the answers to your blessings but Obedience is what assures the delivery of the answers to your prayers. When you obey everything God says to you, your blessings are delivered faster to your footsteps. God does not want a man who is dicey in his ways. Obedience is the key that breaks the law of supply. God will supply riches to a man that fully obeys him.
It is easier for God to bless a man that will go where He wants him to go. God blessed Abraham tremendously because he had an enviable faith in God and obeyed God when it looks humanly impossible and very difficult.
When God told him to leave his fathers land for a strange land, he did. When God told him to sacrifice his only child as a burnt offering to him, Abraham did not grumble. Genesis 22 vs 15-18 showed the blessings God bestowed on Abraham because of his obedience. 18b says: “through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me”. God blessed Abraham and blessed his generations to come. He blessed Abraham so much that even till date we claim Abraham’s blessings as ours. God will bless the men that will abide by His will. God will not bless a man that will use his blessings for evil. Even the ones that acquire wealth the ungodly way will perish. The way that seems right to a man is a way of destruction. Only through thorough obedience to the One that created us can we achieve everlasting riches.
It is not easy as the flesh tend to make us blind to obeying the word of God. Even Paul said that the things he wanted to do, he found himself not doing it and the things he does not want to do, he found himself doing. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. As christians, we should focus on the things of life and not of death; things godly and holy. According to Romans 8 vs 5-7, a man who lives according to sinful nature has his eyes set on the things nature desires but those who live in accordance to with the Spirit have their mind set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of the sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and Peace. The sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. It is not easy but God is saying that His grace is sufficient for us all (2nd Corinthians 2 vs 9). Obedience is better than Sacrifice. No other way to be happy in Christ Jesus but to Obey his word.
